Currently employed as a security consultant, Rick Hanson spent over 40 years in policing. Rick started with the Calgary Police Service in 1975 and over the next 30 years worked in a number of operational and investigative areas. Rick rose steadily through the ranks and was promoted to the rank of Deputy Police Chief in 1997. In 2005 he left the Calgary Police and joined the RCMP in ‘K’ Division as Chief Superintendent in charge of Integrated and Federal Policing. In October 2007 he returned to Calgary as the Chief of Police where he served until March 2015. Rick grew up in Calgary, attended St. Francis High School and graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor’s degree in History and Political Science. Rick is also a graduate of the FBI Leadership in Counter Terrorism Program.
